Peachanda DuBose is an award-winning filmmaker, playwright, screenwriter, director, author, poet, producer, humanitarian, and activist.
Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, she was raised in Virginia’s Hampton Roads region and later found her creative stride in North Carolina. She attended Norfolk State University, where she began cultivating her artistic voice and entrepreneurial spirit. Before stepping into the entertainment industry, DuBose built a successful career as a master hairstylist of 20 years.
In 2007, while living in North Carolina, DuBose independently published and self-distributed her debut book, ‘Reflections of Me’—a powerful compilation of poetry exploring identity, healing, and the human condition. This marked the beginning of her journey as a storyteller and creative entrepreneur, and laid the foundation for the bold artistic career that would follow.
In 2010, she founded Mayan Productions LLC, a company dedicated to producing powerful, real-life stories that spark dialogue, inspire change, and reflect the human experience across both stage and screen.
DuBose is the recipient of two NAACP Awards and has earned over 50 awards throughout her career, recognizing her fearless storytelling and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her acclaimed stage musical ‘Ferguson’—inspired by real-life events—toured nationally to both critical and audience acclaim, continuing her spearheading narrative that boldly brings to the forefront the diabolical nature and traumatic effects of the unjust killings of African Americans by law enforcement.
In 2020, DuBose made history as the first writer/director to land a residency in the 30+ year legacy of one of Hollywood’s most historic venues, The Hudson Theatres on Hollywood’s Theatre Row. Her residency featured weekly performances of several original theatre pieces—all written, directed, and produced by DuBose—solidifying her place as a groundbreaking force in American theatre.
In 2021, she shattered barriers again by launching her own film streaming network, Peach TV®, making her exclusive body of work available to global audiences. She is the first woman to own a streaming platform that exclusively features content solely written, directed, and produced by herself—redefining creative ownership and artistic independence.
DuBose’s passion for celebrating excellence and giving back to the creative community is deeply rooted in her legacy. For over a decade, she has been the founder and creator of three prestigious award brands: The ‘PEACH Theatre Awards Cruise’, The ‘Mayan Industry Awards’, and The ‘Pioneer Awards.’ These platforms honor outstanding achievement across theatre, film, music, media, television, community, and leadership.
In 2022, she launched the inaugural PEACH Theatre & Film International Festival, a global platform celebrating diverse voices and fostering creative collaboration across the performing arts and filmmaking industries. Building on that momentum, in 2026 she will debut her second festival: The ‘BLACK PEACH Avant-Garde Film Festival’, inspired by the groundbreaking “Blaxploitation” film era of the early 1970s, aiming to reimagine and revive the spirit of Black cinematic independence and cultural expression.
At the age of 35, DuBose discovered her true calling when she wrote her first play. Since then, her work across theatre and film has been known for its bold honesty, emotional depth, and unrelenting dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices and truth-telling narratives that resonate deeply with audiences.
Now based in California with her two young adult children, DuBose continues to expand her body of work on a global scale—leaving an indelible mark with every story she tells.
